EXCHANGE 2007 Distribution groups will not email the selected Sharepoint list when using MOSS (sharepoint 3).

Recently I created a new list using MOSS ("sharepoint Discussion list").  I also email enable this list. I gave this list an email address of ithelpdesk.  Once completed I added this "Exchange Contact" to the previously created distribution group named _TechTeam.  This group will email a team a 5 individuals and now the sharepoint list dicussion group.

"NOT"..."this did not work as I thought" .  I spent at least a good share of a day trying to troubleshoot whey the Exchange 2007 (using outlook 2007) would not email the newly created list in the MOSS site.  Solution and workaround will be shown below.

BACKGROUND
-----------------------------
To note: I already had 1 list working correctly.  So I thought it would be a piece of cake.

>>>>The working list was "Annoucements type"...people could email to it directly or through a exchange distribution group.
>>>>The 2nd list type would be a "Discussion group type"

So I created and recreated the list,  I also ensured the security for the list was in proper order so that ANYBODY COULD post to it.
>I set the incoming E-mail settings to yes
>Gave it address ithelpdesk (it said it would create email address ithelpdesk@sharepoint.mydomain.com
>save email attachments > YES
Yes to original email
Yes to meeting invitations
and Email security policy set to "ACCEPT e-mail messages from any sender"

Ok-done with sharepoint....
Yes, I could email the list directly using ithelpdesk@sharepoint.mydomain.com
But the group would never email the list....
I checked everything in exchange
I made sure a had the most recent address list (exited outlook 2007 and got back in)(clicked the plus sign to expand the members of the group and yes...the new contact was their).. So i email the "EACH INDIVIDUAL" shown in the group all at once with all 6 smtp email addresss.  THIS WORKED Too.

But no matter what I tried emailing just the group did nothing.

CORRECTION
----------------------------
So what I did to fix it... I create a brand new contact with in outlook and titled it
"ithelpdesk2" and gave it the smtp email address of ithelpdesk@sharepoint.mydomain.com. I then added this new contact to the distribution group in exchange 2007.   I also deleted the old contact sharepoint created.

Again, I went into my outlook to see if the group had the latest adress book and emailed the group.  This time it all worked perfectly.

So apparently this is a work-around and not a fix.  But we only have a few list and 1 administrator for sharepoint 2007.  This is a work-around we can live with.
